Abstract:
"From childhood itself, we are taught to engage in some form of physical activity. According to Mahatma Gandhi, education is the process of bringing together the all-round development of the mind, body, and soul. This emphasis on the mind and body indicates the necessity of including both physical and mental activities in children’s education.
This perspective is also reflected in the saying, “A healthy mind resides in a healthy body.” Even today, educationists emphasize the need for physical education for the holistic development of children. Many educational philosophers have given importance to this viewpoint.
Alan Russell says, “Of all the subjects taught in school, physical education is the only subject which, because of the nature of its content, can influence every stage of a person’s life.”"
