dc.description.abstract A child acquires most of the personal and social habits before attaining the age of six. During these impressionable years the child has no inhibition. There is no rigidity in his thinking. Through rich and varied Pre-school activities his creativity and problem- solving capability can be developed and enhanced considerably. Bloom (1964) through his research on growth of intelligence has shown that half of the total intellectual development of the child is completed by the time he is four years old. Pre schooling is desirable for all children. It is more so far those coming from poorer and disadvantaged sections of the society. During this educationally potent period of life stimulating environment and facilities provide advantage in developing intellectual and Physical skills. Children form healthy, personal and social value systems through early childhood education. It can promote personal and environmental cleanliness. Children may be medically examined regularly and remedial actions may be taken. stressing the importance of a balance diet and encouraging curiosity are other functions of pre-school education. en_US
