The present Teacher Education Curriculum at the Secondary Stage is generally based upon the Frame Work brought out by the NCTE in 1978 and subsequently revised in 1988. The development and changes over the last two decades require a fresh look at the curriculum. ’Hius for a long time it has been felt that the existing Teacher Education Curriculum for the secondary stage should be revised as the present one year B.Ed programme does not meet the professional requirements of secondary school teachers. In view of the increasing challenges in the field of teacher education and the development that have taken place in the society. In general, and the secondary school system, in particular, it needs to be replaced by a programme which is more rigorous and comprehensive and fulfils the present day requirements and aspirations.en_US
