Abstract: Laboratory skill and Chemistry kits is an integral part of secondary level-2 science curriculum. If properly planned and conducted, practical skills can provide a firsthand experience of the various activities that comprise Chemistry. Practical skills are meant to (i) develop the skills required to perform the experiments and (ii) to strengthen the understanding of the theoretical concepts pertaining to the experiments done in the laboratory. The important skills required in Chemistry using kits is meant to assist the learners to learn and develop the skills of manipulation, observation, reading, recording, computing and interpreting. Success achieved by following these skills not only trains one in these abilities, but also increases confidence in the method of Chemistry kits. Encouraging learners to carry out practical would also help develop in them the scientific attitude with its emphasis on objectivity and open mindedness.
