dc.description.abstract | The level of education of girls in India is much lower than boys. According to Census 2011 male literacy was 77.15% in rural areas and female literacy rate was 57.93% (Census Report-2011). The level of education has dropped further, in India Rajasthan (state in north India) girls are three times more likely to not attend School compared to their male counterpart (UNICEF-2019). 39% percent of rural girls attend secondary school compare to 45% of rural boys (United Nations 2009). Literacy rate of girls in rural areas is also very low and dropout rate is found to be high, due to conservative thinking in villages, educating girls education is considered unimportant and for this reason girls have not provided equal facilities of education as boys. In the family, special attention is paid to the education of the boys and all their needs are met. | en_US |
