dc.description.abstractThe Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act / (RTE) Act 2009, describes the modalities of the importance of free and compulsory education for children between 6 and 14 in India under Article 21A of the Indian Constitution. India became one of 135 countries to make Education a fundamental right of every child when the act came into force on | April, 2010. The enforcement of this right is a joint responsibility of the State and the Central Government to provide free and compulsory Education. Free and compulsory Education means that," All children between the ages of 6 and 14 shall have the right to free and compulsory elementary Education at a neighbourhood school. The right to free and compulsory Education has proven to be a big challenge to the nation. The implementation will not be effective unless all the agencies involved work together to achieve the ultimate goal to universalizing education. Not many people are still fully aware of this Act and its provisions. This Act serves as a building block to ensure that every child has his or her right (as a right) to get a good quality elementary Education and the State with the help of families and communities, fulfill what the act aims at achieving.en_US
