Teacher is the foundation of building society and nation. The progress of society depends on teachers only. Teachers brighten the future of the country by providing proper education to the parents. The importance of a teacher is immeasurable, indescribable. In ancient times, teacher was given the status of Guru. Guru was considered equivalent to God and it is said - Guru Brahma Guru Vishnu Guru Devo Maheshwara. The spiritual master is directly the Supreme Brahman. Guru has been given the status of Trimurti. Brahma is the storehouse of knowledge, Vishnu is the giver of knowledge and Shiva is the good user of knowledge. Vivekananda says that the teacher who comes down to the students' level and examines their souls and imparts education is a true teacher. According to Jawaharlal Nehru, there are four types of teachers. The ordinary teacher is the one who just says. A good teacher is one who explains. A good teacher is one who demonstrates and a great teacher is one who inspires students. The importance of a teacher can be derived from the following statement, "The place that bricks have in building a building, the teacher has the same place in nation building." Education is an important and necessary means for the progress of any country or society. Education is a process of development. It reveals the innate powers given by nature within the child and brings them out. According to Mahatma Gandhi, education means inherent in child and human being.en_US
