Abstract: Decay of values is one of the major problems of the present Indian society. Rapid industrialization, new economy, information revolution, global challenges and growing tendencies of the self are being held responsible for the decline and change in values. At present the main challenges facing the society are political, cultural, economic and environmental. Their basic origin is related to the stream of values. Society is finding itself incapable of dealing with these challenges. The main reason for this is that he has the power to analyze and treat these problems. If we think from a proper perspective, it becomes clear that the consumerist and materialistic nature of humans is the biggest obstacle in solving these problems. If we want to solve these problems, then first of all we have to develop in children the values imbued with the spirit of Satyam Shivam Sundaram non-violence, kindness, love, tolerance, freedom, equality, fraternity, Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam as per Indian culture and traditions. . Teachers can play an important role in developing appropriate values in students through curriculum and textbooks. The real importance of local life and environment is re-emerging with the efforts to materialize the constitutional directive to provide education to all children in the age group of 6 to 14 years. Efforts to connect education with practical life and make it useful have also attracted a lot of attention. These various streams have again made the importance of environment in education beyond dispute.
