Where Indian thought has adopted a spiritual stick-on regarding the concept of education. Whereas Western thought has adopted a practical approach. According to John Dewey, education is the development of all those abilities in the individual which enable him to control his environment and fulfill his potential. Knowledge as the center of education The word Veda means knowledge. In Rigveda, education has been understood as something that makes a human being self-reliant and selfless.
