Abstract: | Primary Shiva is the basic foundation of progress of any nation. It is the first step, only by successfully crossing which a nation can reach its desired goal. Neither secondary education nor higher education has as close a relationship with national life as primary education has. Primary education has a more important place in building national ideology and character than any other social, political or educational education. It is not related to any particular person or religion but to the entire population of the country. Thus we can say that education of all individuals or education of the common people is the basic basis of national progress. According to Swami Vivekananda, "In my opinion, neglect of the masses is a great national sin and one of the reasons for our education. All politics will fail until the masses in India are once again properly educated." The Constitution of our country came into force in 1950. Under Article 45 of the Constitution, it was said, "The State shall, within ten years from the coming into force of this Constitution, endeavor to provide free and compulsory education to all children of the age group of 6 to 14 years." But unfortunately this target has not been achieved even till date. It is not that efforts have not been made in this direction, but continuous efforts have been made in this direction, such as the Kothari Commission (1964-1966) while propounding the importance of education. |
