Abstract: Fourteen pairs of β and 1/γ values are presented that each contain seven or fewer digits. For each pair, the associated value of γ is expressed as a fraction whose denominator, multiplied by γ, generates a product with five or fewer digits. Such numbers can be manipulated by handheld calculators without round-off error, permitting exact results for equations involving the factor γ as well as 1/γ in Einstein’s special theory of relativity.
Similar student-friendly examples have recently been published for the calculation of Poynting vectors1 and relativistic velocities.
