| Summary, etc | Abstract-

Learning in chemistry laboratories has long been challenging due to the complex nature of the learning environment and tasks that students engage with. Therefore, it is important to develop useful tools for prelab and follow-up activities besides the hands-on lab time for better management of the learners’ cognitive load. In this paper, we developed a novel educational game called Card Lab and applied it as an auxiliary tool in follow-up activities to help participants review what they have learned in the titration lab course, which was open to first- and second-year undergraduates in chemistry. The preparation of a card set and the typical process to play and apply the game as follow-up activities for titration lab course were introduced. A mixed methods approach by combining interviews and questionnaires was conducted to collect students’ feedback on their learning experiences. Data analysis reveals the potential of Card Lab to support enjoyable, scientific, effective, and economical lab learning. The contribution includes further discussions on its future applications.

|
