Abstract: Here, an aircraft cabin is used as a laboratory for studying the atmospheric pressure during a flight. All the different steps of the flight—takeoff, cruise altitude, climbing, and landing—are monitored using the pressure sensor of a smartphone. Specific details of the atmospheric pressure during takeoff and landing are given. Calculations are done for the aircraft’s nose elevation angle during takeoff with the relation between the optimized cabin pressure for the passenger’s comfort and the aircraft altitude.
